PROMACTA can cause serious side effects, including:

  • Abnormal liver function tests
  • High platelet counts and higher risk for blood clots
  • New or worsened cataracts


In the clinical trial for severe aplastic anemia, the most common side effects of PROMACTA (reported in 20% or more of patients who received PROMACTA) were:


  • Nausea
  • Feeling tired
  • Cough
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
